Project Title:

BioInformatics Algorithms for High Performance Computing                

Problem Statement:

Various algorithms involving intelligent searches of Bioinformatic databases will be analyzed for High performance computing from the view point of performance gains through mapping on grid computing systems. 

Motivation and Impact:

Today, much genetic sequence information is available on bioinformatics databases. By performing preliminary analysis of this information, biologists can streamline their efforts before resorting to wet labs experiments involving animal models. However it is necessary to evolve the right kind of algorithms to perform intelligent search of these databases. The project targets this issue.  

Current Status:

Currently, work is underway at FAU through bioinformatics consortium and various efforts are underway with the help of researchers at FAU and IBM.

Research Roadmap:

1. I will visit Argentina in Summer to establish collaboration.

2. Various experiments will be conducted in Fall and results will be discussed by both parties.

3. Dr. Pandya and I will visit Argentina in Spring 09 to discuss further road map and evolve a publication based on the results.
